Care for (white) Cute Cover Bible Covers

The bible cover I am featuring brings up the topic of caring for fabric covers that are very light in color or specifically white. I don't typically use these colors unless the fabric is absolutely adorable! I treat all white covers with a fabric treatment that repels stains and dirt. I do not recommend these designs for daily use, in fact my recommendation for a bible cover like this one pictured would be more of a keepsake or heirloom gift cover for a first bible or a special bible that can be protected and stored somewhere visible, instead of packed away in a box or a shelf to get dusty and further worn. When you have a nice bible cover you tend to take care in where you place your bible and it stands out more, making it easier for you to locate on a busy Sunday morning or when you have maybe misplaced it. Most of the custom bible covers I make are not machine washable at all unless stated. My recommendations are always hand wash;cold water; spot clean only; & line dry. 

Padded Washable Bible Covers

The bible cover I am featuring today is this whimsical  black and white pattern in the panel design. I chose a hot pink christian fish, but a name could be added to the panel alternately. I really like this cover, the fabric itself for this one really is vibrant and of great quality. As soon as I was working with it I knew it would translate to exactly what we see here in the completed design. I almost went with the single trim bow for this one but I ended up changing my mind at the last minute. This cover is fully padded . I have used this design myself and I feel it really needs that support for the study bibles it commonly holds. Since this is a design I made specifically for adults it holds up to the daily/weekly study use while also having the option of being washable unlike many of our other designs, that are recommended spot clean only styles. This cover will be available  6/12/11

Fabric Haul

Here is a portion of my haul this week. I immediately thought of the panel design when I saw this unique geometric green,black and white fabric, still refining the old pattern for this one so each of these so far seem to show a bit of wonky-ness to the completed cover! :(
I worked on a sibling set remnant following this one.

Handmade Bible Cover Designs

This cover pictured above was a remnant design 5/30/11.  

 ..Just found this! I'll pull up any of the original designs from the remnant creations I post if I still have them filed away. This one I believe was from around Christmas '10 and also one of the few panel designs that I was just beginning to introduce with the Christian Fish. I really loved these vine fabrics, Working with black and white patterns is like working with a blank canvas to me, the possibilities are endless and I usually have a few colors I love to combine them with: hot pink, lime green, aqua and red. As you can see from the remnant creation above I chose a pop of color using the aqua trim and same embroidered fish.

One Cover Two Ways

The 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 2" fish design. I am doing remnant designs for the rest of the evening. 

This bible cover has also been previously created in the single trim bow design. It was actually one of the first single trim bow designs I made in 2009. When a print is too busy for personalization these are a nice non-personalized option.
